We are very busy in the Exceptional Children's classroom.  Students not only work on core subjects daily, but are working to improve social skills and self help skills.  With the help of my assistants, Ms. Priscilla Beech and Ms. Latoya Murrell, we provide supervision and structure to ensure the success of each student to the best of that student's ability.  I encourage frequent contact with the student's parents and work to keep a good relationship between them and the school.
This is my 9th year of teaching at PES, and my 13th year in Jones County Schools.  I am formally from West Virginia where I graduated from the University of Charleston with a degree in Sociology and Psychology.  I worked as a mental health counselor for over 20 years and then returned to school and graduated from West Virginia University with a Master's in Special Education.  I later passed the stringent testing to become a National Board Certified Teacher in Special Education.
I have lived in Jones County for 12 years.  I am married and have two grown children.  Our family lives in Trenton.  My son, Josh, is in furniture sales and my daughter, Megan, teaches English at Jones Senior.  I am very proud of their accomplishments.  I also have an 8 year old granddaughter, Makendra, who attends Second Grade at PES and am expecting a grandson , Trevor, in late November.
Please feel free to stop by my classroom and see what we are learning!
