Welcome back to another exciting year at PES. We are proud of all our leaders in our classrooms and hope that teaching leadership skills to every student will give them the focus and motivation to do well in school. I teach in the Exceptional Children's self-contained classroom with the help of Mrs. Priscilla Beech. We are also pleased to have Mrs. Emma Andrews as a Student Teacher for Special Education this year. Not only do we work on math, reading, science and social studies, we also work on self-help skills and socialization. We provide supervision and structure to ensure the success of each student. This will be my 7th year of teaching at PES, and my 11th year in Jones County Schools. I am formally from West Virginia where I graduated from the University of Charleston with a degree in Sociology and Psychology. I worked as a mental health counselor for over 20 years and then returned to school and graduated from West Virginia University with a Master's in Special Education. I have lived in Jones County for 10 years. I am married and have two grown children. My son, Josh, recently moved to North Carolina from West Virginia and will be living close by. My daughter, Megan, teaches English at Jones Senior and will be getting married this fall. I am very proud of their accomplishments. I also have a 6 year old granddaughter, Makendra, who started to Kindergarden this year. Please feel free to stop by my classroom and see what we are learning! | |
