JCPS Substitute Teachers

Individuals wishing to serve as a substitute teacher with Jones County Public Schools must meet the following requirements:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent semester hours from an accredited institution of higher education

  • Complete Effective Teacher Training (applicant's expense)

  • Completed Drug Test (applicant's expense)

  • Nationwide Criminal Record Check (district's expense)

  • Completed Health Examination Certificate


Individuals wishing to serve as a substitute in a Pre-K classroom must meet the requirements listed above plus the following:

  • CPR/First Aid Certification

  • Finger Print Card completed by the Sheriff's office

  • State criminal record check processed by Dept. of Health and Human Services
